"A container of ashes might one day be thrown from the sky, which could burn the land and boil the oceans. The box is easy to open, single phillips (cross point) screw under a sticker on the bottom. It sounds like the tuner assembly is dead, or their is a connection problem from the female coax on the back of the box to the tuner assembly. The cable outlet that I used for this test normally has a HDTV converter box attached to it. The PowerBook is running 10.4.8 just like the G5. The PowerBook is not running the same version of EyeTV. I connected the EyeTV to my 12" PowerBook in that room. I took the EyeTV box into another room to use a different unsplit cable outlet. The reason I am asking about the cable is that cable companies seems to have dropped the signal strength in the last few months. I only recently had to amp the EyeTV USB's because of the signal strength cut from my cable company. I have always run an amp on the Plextors because the cable signal is split between my media center, and the Plextors. I am running 10.4.8 on both my EyeTV towers, one running four Plextors, the other running two EyeTV USB's. Quick input test, run a signal into the composite input to see if the encoding hardware is okay. Cable? Split Cable? Are you running a signal amp?
